The STAND OUT! PROJECT is a group of Lincoln Middle School students dedicated to making a difference at their school.
It is designed to recognize students who stand out in the school community in academics as well as in other areas such as after school clubs, groups, programs, and athletics. The goal is to help reinforce the positive aspects of school life and ultimately raise
awareness of all members of the community to the importance of the individual and the unique traits each possess.
Welcoming in Spring.
On Friday, March 24, 2017, The STAND OUT! Project sponsored a JELLY BEAN CONTEST at Lincoln Middle School. During all three lunches, students were able to take a chance and a guess as to the number of jelly beans in the jars. Winners received a gift card to Target. POWER OF THE POST IT!
As part of a school-wide initiative, The Stand Out! Project held a PBIS "Positive Day" for the students of Grade 6. The students arrived to the hallways on Tuesday morning only to meet hundreds of post it notes - all with words of encouragement and positive messages. Students took the notes, gave some to friends and teachers, and many wore them throughout the day. Some notes remain on lockers and doors throughout the 6th grade floor. It was a huge undertaking by the student club, but it paid off to see the reactions of the students. Hopefully, the positive vibes will continue throughout the weeks to come as we head towards the end of the school year.
UNIFIED BASKETBALL
On Thursday afternoon, April 27th, 2017, students, faculty, staff, families, and friends gather in the Lincoln Middle School gymnasium for the Unified Basketball game featuring students from Burrillville Middle School and Lincoln Middle School.
Here's a reaction from one fan:
Watching the Unified basketball game put a smile on my face. I was great to see students work together despite their differences. It was so cool that no matter what the score was, the teams were happy to be there playing basketball in front of all the fans. For the "Fans in the Stands", the game was exciting! The Lions stayed in the lead for most of the game, and won, but only by a couple of points. Although one team had to lose and one team had to win, I am sure that everyone left the gym feeling like a winner.

THE RETURN OF THE POST IT!
The Stand Out! Project was back at it on Thursday, May 4th. The student group flooded the 7th & 8th Grade hallways as well as the Main Office and Guidance Office with notes. The Power of the Post It and messages of kindness and encouragement touched many students, teachers, and guests at Lincoln Middle School on Friday morning and throughout the day. Check it out!
LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK!
P.R.I.D.E.
Students, teachers, and staff participated in Lincoln Middle School's Spirit Week. From Crazy Sock & Hat Day on Monday, to Red,White, and Blue Day on Friday, the school week was filled with excitement and fun. One teacher asked, "Why do I keep seeing kids in the same clothes? I've even seen students dressed like the teachers!" That's right - TWIN DAY - the most popular of all the days! A Spring Canned-Food Drive was held in conjunction with Spirit Week, as Lincoln Middle School took some time to think about those less fortunate in the community and the state. A special thank you to all who donated during the week. Remember: Be the change you want to see. |
